I have always wanted to know how to design and publish a web page, and now I know how. I have learned what it takes to make it from scratch and how to use a template to tweak it to make it my own. In the beginning, when learning HTML code, I was extremely overwhelmed. I felt that I would never be able to make the beautiful, eye-catching pages that always caught my attention. Thankfully, I also learned how to use sites with templates to get the desired effect that I was looking for. I am so proud of what I have been able to create in my multi-media design project. I used a Wix template for my project. Once I figured out the editing tools, it became easy to operate.
My greatest accomplishment with my website came today! I was able to figure out how to put my School Tube video on the site so that the students could view it at school without any problem. The Wix site had provided a bit of a challenge at first because it appeared to only want to allow videos from YouTube, MetaCafe, or 5 min. Today I was able to tweak the HTML code to get it just like I wanted it on my site. When I went to view it, I crossed my fingers and then let out a squeal when it actually worked the way I wanted it to (it took a half a dozen times to get to that point). I would not have known how to do that before this class.
Great to hear that Code helped out. It is overwhelming but it is wonderful that we have learned in this class how important even just a little of code knowledge is very helpful. Hope that you can fix things to come by using code. It is no longer a barrier. See you around.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I found someone else who has used metacafe. I found it was very easy to use and works at school. I am so happy that you were able to work with code. I found it really helped to use code also. It does make it easier to change things when you want to. Your sites have been very eye catching and are fun to watch. Awsome job this year!
ReplyDeleteIt is great to be able to troubleshoot problems when you know code. I wnat to know how you tweaked the code to allow your video through. You used a web page that allows for more creativity. I used a templated spot for WebQuests as I thought it would keep me focused but I found that I did not like it as much since it kept me "boxed" in to their format. I may try to spend some time this summer moving it to another format where I do have more creative rights. BTW, I loved your WebQuest and hope to be able to use it next year.
ReplyDeleteWix allowed a "blank" HTML widget that I used to copy the School Tube code into. The tweaking I did related to the sizing so I was able to fit it in the exact spot I wanted it on my page.
